I used to hate wearing all one color, and I hated when the colors did not match. If you didn’t know not all blacks, navys, and whites are created equally. However, there is always a way to make it work. And the best way is confidence. Even if those colors don’t match to an exact science, if you act like those colors match, no one else will care. I remember there was a monochromatic trend at one point, but all black will always be in. I don’t care what anyone says!
Anyway, I decided to experiment a little bit with the outfit I put together because I like trying new things… sometimes. I also wanted to put something together that was work appropriate. I’m a professional and I know in your twenties, it’s hard to figure out nice work outfits. In addition, trying to be stylish yet professional, and still feel like yourself. I bought this cape from… you guessed it… Zara (best store ever) last year during the holiday season. The cape trend was everything to me, and I still love it. It makes me feel like royalty and very U.K. like (haha!). Also, these leggings were on sale from Ann Taylor. I rarely buy anything full price. If I do pay full price, I use my credit card so if it goes on sale, I can use my price protection benefit (click here for that post).
These legging/pants were a favorite of mine last year because my winter wardrobe is leggings, booties, and a sweater. I don’t deviate because I’m already cranky and cold, and I do not want to have to figure out what to wear on top of that. I also like that Ann Taylor has petite because the fit is so much better for me. I’m only 5’2 and having to roll everything or get it older is seriously annoying. These didn’t need rolling but I’ve gotten so used to that look that I pretty much do it to all of my jeans and pants.
