As you may be able to see, I have already taken a break from blogging. Why? I overwhelmed myself after 30 days of blogging and putting way too much pressure on myself. I was trying to increase views, edit photos, have nice pinnable images, and get a social media following on 3 different platforms. I was trying to learn about affiliate marketing, Tailwind Tribes, and Pinterest group boards and it was too much. I stopped having fun learning about all of this new blog information and began to have information overload.
About a month ago I was constantly promoting the blog and I wasn’t having fun at all. Trying to maintain 3 different social media platforms had me losing my mind. I spent almost 12 hours a day just working on my blog, which I was enjoying but I have a fiancé now that still wants to spend time with me. Everything was thrown to the wayside for my blog. On top of it all, I still have an actual day job which has been demanding lately because of time constraints. And as stated above, I have a fiancé and we have to plan a wedding! I got engaged on my birthday (August 10), so right now, I am spreading myself thin.
When I began blogging, my goal was to write 2 posts a week. I am cutting back to one post per week for my sanity. The other part that was overwhelming me was trying to identify my niche. Of course documenting my debt payoff is important, but there are so many other aspects of my life that I want to document. Confining myself to one subject will not work for my blog.
Although I haven’t been documenting my various journeys through the blog, I have continued making progress. Click here to see my debt journey update, which I update on a monthly basis. So for those just starting out with blogging, please don’t put too much pressure on yourself and have fun. Remember why you started your blog. For me, it’s an outlet for my creativity. So with that said, I am going to have a do over and try to put less pressure on myself to have this amazingly, successful blog and just try to enjoy the process.
