I have my staple hair products but when I saw The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian 24K Glistening Twisting Gel on Instagram, I knew that I had to try it. I scurried over to Sally’s and couldn’t wait for wash day.
Price: The first thing I always care about when buying a product is how much is this going to cost me? The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian 24K Glistening Twisting Gel is $14.99 for a 12 oz jar. Since a little bit goes a long way this should last for a while.
Smell: The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian 24K Glistening Twisting Gel has a tropical, watermelon smell. It doesn’t linger for those who have issues with smells.
Consistency: The consistency of The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian 24K Glistening Twisting Gel is like a jelly. If you tip the jar, then the product will fall out. It appears to have glitter but it’s not gritty and not noticeable when you dip your finger in the jar.
Ingredients: Aqua (Purified Water), Biotin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Persea Fratissima (Avocado) Oil, Polyacrylate-2 Crosspolymer Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Beta Carotene, Oleic Acid (Omega 9), Omega 3/6 (Camelina Sativa Seed Oil), Citrullus Lanatus (Kalahari Watermelon) Seed Oil, Ricinodendron Rautanenii (Maketti Oil), Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Mongongo (Schinzlophyton Rautanenii Kernel) Oil, Gold, Olea Europaea (Olive Oleaster) Fruit Oil, Panthenol, Annatto (Rolucou) Extract, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Aminomethyl Propanol (Water Soluble), Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend)
The ingredients are great. I can recognize a majority of the ingredients which is always a good sign to me. Also, I love anything with biotin and castor oil.
How did I use the product: I have a very specific regimen and nothing changes except the gel in this case. First, I used the LCO method. I sprayed my leave in conditioner. Then I used a cream and sealed everything in with my oil. After that, I applied the gel which went on smoothly and gave my wet hair pretty good definition. While twisting my hair I didn’t have any issues with snagging and could get my detangling comb through pretty easily.
Would I buy this again? No, because I had some flaking at the front of my hair, however, the results of my twists were really good. The definition was good and the shine of my twists was phenomenal. I am not heavy handed and the jar instructs you to use a quarter size amount, which is the amount I used if not less. It was probably a combination of my products, but like I said I consistently use the same products because they are the products my hairdresser uses. I would recommend this product if you don’t use multiple or heavy products. This product went back to Sally’s but it was a good product! It just didn’t fit in with my current regimen that has been consistently working for me for the past 8 months. If you want to purchase this gel, you can purchase it here.
